As the COVID-19 pandemic rocked the global economy, it’s no surprise the TV news industry was not immune. Many on air and off air staff were let go as station profits fell dramatically and managers were forced to make major financial cuts. Many that kept their jobs saw their pay cut or their raises frozen while others had no choice but to take unpaid time off. All of this, as stress mounted on those working who had to find ways to do more with less.
However, things seem to be turning now as more station groups continue to post more job openings across the country. Additionally, companies have been posting internships for college students looking to get hands-on experience in the industry before graduating.
So if you’re looking for a new opportunity now or will be looking soon, now’s a good time to get the resume and reel ready to go. Best of luck!
